Our Vision

‘ To build up a therapeutic community of commercial sex workers (CSWs) and families and aid in their rehabilitation and building up in purity ’

The first vertical has its focus on the transformation of commercial sex workers and their families through the building up of relationships, counselling, teaching and other special programs. This involves the conducting of fellowship gatherings of sex workers who are either in the process of or have completed rehabilitation. These efforts are done in such a manner as to preserve the disclosing of their identity and with sensitivity to their privacy. A variety of approaches are used to help them return to a normal lifestyle after leaving the sex trade. Identification of sex workers in need of rehabilitation in a manner to win their confidence as well as a follow-up of previous contacts who have undergone rehabilitation is an ongoing and continuous effort. Among the various approaches used are organized house-visits to their homes, annual picnics that help give them an encouraging change of location as well as frequent get togethers.

Apart from these efforts, a targeted approach is also in place to help the children of rehabilitated sex workers secure a quality education. Efforts are taken by the Rapha Unlimited team to identify good educational institutions. In tandem, they work continuously to provide sound value education for them as they grow into adulthood. The overall aim in this is to rescue them from resorting to the sex trade and similar activities. Adolescent clubs for these children are organized by the counsellors of Rapha Unlimited. As and when the situation occurs, efforts are also made to arrange foster care for children in moral danger. Rapha U has 4 goals for women in prostitution

  • Freedom from prostitution
  • Freedom from the network
  • Freedom from adultery (cheating)
  • Freedom from the partner

This would mean complete deliverance and an uprooting and re-grafting into normal life in society.

Adolescent clubs

Children are an important leverage point in breaking the cycle of prostitution in families. Many of these children become dropouts, addicts, anti-social or a liability to society. Therefore, focused intervention sometimes involving intensive counselling and personal care is needed for these children. At present, we are intensively monitoring 15 children and helping to build them in character.

Educational assistance

10 children from rehabilitated families and a few other children in need of care and protection from vulnerable backgrounds are currently provided with monetary educational assistance.
